Our beloved Mother, Shirley Brown Winters, surrounded by her loved ones, left this world to join her husband, Mont, on July 14, 2007. After a valiant struggle with a brain tumor and strokes, she passed away peacefully. Born August 11, 1922 in Hoytsville, Summit County, Utah to David William and Vivian Clark Brown. She graduated from North Summit High School in 1940. Shirley married Mont Clarence Winters, July 6, 1943 in Logan LDS Temple. Mont passed away April 7, 1991.
She was employed by Summit County, North Summit School District and Walker Bank. She was active in the LDS Church and served various callings in the ward and stake auxiliary organizations. Shirley enjoyed serving in the name extraction program for over 6 years. Shirley spent her "golden years" doing Family History and Temple work. She made treasured Family Books with the help of her children, for each of her children, grandchildren and sisters.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Larry LaMont (Joy) Winters, Don Clarence (Lori) Winters, Barbara Jean (Dennis) Davidson, and Nedra (Alan) Farrington; sister: Ruth (Ray) Richins, Afton (Vaughn) Dearden; sister-in-law Helen (Lyle) Boyer. She is survived by 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, with 3 more on the way. Her family was her love, pride and joy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 19 at 11:00 am in the Hoytsville LDS church. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 18 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and Thursday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in the Hoytsville LDS church.
The family warmly thanks Hospice Alliance of Heber City and Orem; Westmed; and the staffs of Stonewood Manor and the Berkshire for their Christ-like tender, loving care of Shirley.
