Slade Lewis Dunn was born in Moscow, Idaho on November 7, 1974 to Victor and Renea Dunn. He had three siblings, an older brother and sister as well as a younger brother. He spent his early years in California, Arizona, and Nevada where he enjoyed many daredevilish activities with his brothers. He rode motorcycles in the desert with them, and shot BB guns with them and at them. Slade also shared a love of languages with his sister and he enjoyed the French lessons she gave him in elementary school just as much as she loved teaching him his first foreign language. Slade attended Lowry High School, BYU, and UVU.
While attending high school, Slade adored playing his tenor saxophone for his band and jazz band. He also had a knack for picking up whatever instrument his band director was short on. This led him to have a strong passion for music all throughout high school. Slade graduated in 1993, where he then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hong Kong, speaking Cantonese Chinese.
He married Jerraine Poon on September 11, 1999 in Nephi, Utah. They are the parents of one amazing son, Brandon, and one amazing daughter, Amelia. The two children were the highlight of Slade’s life. He enjoyed watching and supporting his son and daughter during all of their sporting, musical, and school events. Slade was a stable and positive influence in his children’s lives. He was extremely creative and caring, always being there for them when they needed him the most.
Professionally, Slade was a self-employed computer technician. He diagnosed and repaired many computers using his technical expertise. If anyone had a problem with their computer, they could always turn to Slade for help. He had a passion for computers and could always be found near one.
Slade also had many other interests that he loved sharing with his children. Most of them revolved around his love for Sci-Fi stories and space. He loved taking his two kids out to go star-gazing while they were little. He would share fun facts about the stars and satellites and would always jump on the opportunity to see a comet pass by. Slade was always on top of what was going on in space and never missed the chance to share the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see cool things with his family.
Slade was a wellspring of knowledge in many areas. He often helped people inside and outside his family. Throughout his life, one could always depend on Slade to step out of his comfort zone to be there for you.
Slade passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2025 in Provo, Utah. Slade was an essential part of our family and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, his son and daughter, his three siblings, his parents, his in-laws, and his many nieces and nephews.
