Sonia Rosselle Smith

Sonia Rosselle Smith 1943 - 2011 The self-described "luckiest girl in the world", Sonia Smith peacefully passed from her mortal body on Friday, February 18, 2011, at 1:40 p.m. in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her five children Lee Harmon (Brad), Mia Brooks (Remington), Jared McDougall (Stephanie), Joshua McDougall (JaNae) and Ash McDougall, along with a fabulous posterity of fourteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Gwenap Warren and father, Charles Patrick Smith. Sonia was born in Perth, Western Australia. She and her young family moved to America and settled in Utah shortly after giving birth to her 2nd child.
Sonia had a special spirit that allowed her to always seek out the silver lining even in the most grave situations. She continued to point out blessings even throughout her heart-stirring fight with brain cancer. This gift not only allowed her to see the good in tough situations but also in people whom she would befriend when others would not.
Sonia had a great passion for traveling the world. Her entire working career was in the travel business allowing her to see and enjoy all that the Earth had to offer.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Orchard 9th Ward LDS chapel located at 155 Coventry Way in North Salt Lake. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 AM at the church prior to services. The interment will be held at the Sandy City Cemetery. Online guest book at http://soniaaussie.blogspot.com
