Stephen Shreeve Richards passed from this life on his 66th birthday at home after a brief illness on October 3, 2007 in Sandy, Utah. He was born in Redding, CA. and grew up in Ogden, Utah. After graduating from Ogden High School, where he was a star athlete, he worked as a mechanic. He met and married Grace Rhynsburger, with whom he had four children. He spent a few years as a long-haul trucker before finding a career with the Army. He spent most of his Army career in Ogden, UT, with the 6th of the 83rd Artillery Battalion, with a 4-year assignment at ARPERCEN in St. Louis. MO., eventually retiring in Salt Lake City in May 1998 with 35 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed reading copious amounts of books, being a house husband, doing yardwork and odd jobs around the house, always under the close supervision of his beloved pets, Punkin and Kato. Steve was a charming, funny, loving man who was loved by everyone he met. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family and pets most of all. His first priority was always the well-being of his family. He was never hesitant to give support or love to any family member that might be in need. As anyone who knew him will attest, his favorite way of showing affection was to feed you. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin and Eva Magdalena Shreeve Richards, and brother David Franklin Richards. He is survived by Grace, his wife of 44 years, his children; David R. Richards of Sandy, Stephanie (Doug) Grill of North Ogden, Daniel R. Richards of Salt Lake and Stacie (Kelli) Richards of Sacramento, CA, his two sisters Lynnette Richins and Jurai Davis, along with his favorite grandchildren; Cody Scott, Kasi Ryan, Toni Daniel, Jennifer and Colton Dean. Private family services were held. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Steve's name to Hospice for Utah or Utah State Veteran's Nursing Home.
