Thad Junius Stringham (T.J.): Born Feb. 5, 1930 in Vernal Utah to Philip C. & Ella Jane W. Stringham, returned to his Father in Heaven and beautiful wife Ione, Sept. 11, 2009 after a valiant battle with Cancer and other complications.
Thad loved growing up in Vernal and loved sharing those stories with his family. He moved to SLC with his wife and young family in 1956 and has resided in his current home for over 52 years. He worked many jobs in his life but will be remembered most for his 20 plus years as a Milkman for Hi Land Dairy and another 20 plus years as a bus driver for the Granite School District.
In life he taught by example. He taught his children how to love their spouses by the love he showed for his sweetheart Ione. They were married for 57 years and he took care of her for the last 20 years of her life as her health declined. He taught the value of hard work, finally retiring at age 77. He taught us how to serve others through the many church callings he had. He earned the Silver Beaver award for his many years in scouting and loved being a Scout Master. He taught us how to love one another by being a great Dad, Husband and Grandfather. He especially loved his 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He always had something for them even if it were just a big hug and a smile.
Thad is survived by his children Lynette (Dan Funk), Bryce (Linda) and Philip (Kathy).
Funeral services for Thad will be held in the Winder 7th ward chapel (middle building) at 4350 S 1100 E on Saturday September 19th at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour before at 10:00 a.m. and Friday night at the Winder 7th ward chapel from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
A special Thanks to the staff at the Silverado and Hospice and all that have blessed Dad's life.
