Clifton Robinson Dixon and Thelda Thompson Dixon have completed their mortal existence. Clifton died on Thursday May 16th and Thelda followed on Monday, May 19th, 2008. Both died in Heber, City, Utah.
Clifton was born October 16, 1917 in Manard, Idaho. He is the oldest child of Riley Lyman Dixon and Alva Retta Robinson. He served two years as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the California mission. He graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry. As an active member of the Church, Clifton served in numerous service and leadership positions. His occupations included high school teacher and coach in Alamo, Nevada and Salmon, Idaho, farming, chemical fertilizer sales and service, bee keeping and custom meat processing at Gooding, Idaho.
Thelda was born December 12, 1915 in Georgetown, Idaho. She was the second daughter of Abraham Martin Thompson and Mabel Elizabeth Larsen. She graduated from Georgetown High School as valedictorian of her class and from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Education. As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in many positions of service and leadership. Her occupations included business teacher in Alamo, Nevada and Salmon, Idaho and being a wonderful mother.
Clifton and Thelda were married June 12, 1944, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They served as senior missionaries in the Washington D.C. North Mission, 1993-1994.
They were preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Dixon, a great grandson, Garrett Reese Wright, both of their parents and Clifton - a sister, Beth Cheney, Thelda - a sister, Thora Black, three brothers, Earl, Wayne and Darwin Thompson. They are survived by five children, Dee (Cathie Hendrix) Dixon, Wilma (John) Cowley, Reese (Connie Jones) Dixon, Marva Lee (Steve) Edwards and Joel (Amy Durant) Dixon and twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Clifton is survived by one brother, Dwight Dixon and sisters, Lois Bird, Dot Dahn and DelOra (Alden) Johnson. Theld is survived by two sisters, Elma Fraughton, VeNona (Charles) Stephens and one brother Gary (Ruth) Thompson.
Joint funeral services, arranged by SereniCare, will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel, 114 S. 400 W., Orem, Utah 84058, at 1:00 PM, May 24th. Viewings will be held at the same location, Friday, May 23rd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, and Saturday, May 24th at 12:00 Noon. They will be buried in Gooding, Idaho, Tuesday, May 27th.
