Theodore J. Lira Jr. (Teddy)
Teddy passed away on Saturday March 27, 2010 in the loving arms of his wife Christina and surrounded by family after a brave and valiant fight with cancer. He was 60 years old. Teddy was born March 30, 1949 in Oakland Ca. The second of seven children to Theodore and Virginia Lira. After serving in the Army, Teddy worked 35 years on the waterfront as a longshoreman before retiring to Utah in 2001. An accomplished mechanic, Teddy enjoyed nothing more than spending time in his garage working on a car, restoring a classic or building a show quality motorcycle from a single bolt. Then after all the time and effort, trade it away for another "project" and start all over again. He was always available to a friend or neighbor who might need some help or maybe a special tool that only Teddy would have. He had many hobbies. He collected model cars and guitars. He taught himself how to play and loved to plug in an amp and play a tune.
Survived by the love of his life and wife of 17 years Christina; mother Virginia Gomes; children Anthony and Angela (Josh); grandchildren Richard and Leia Tyner; sisters Christine Graham (Jim), Charlene Lendway (Peter), Madelyn Munoz (Ildefonso), Roxanne Pizano (Fredrico) Susan Ramos (Frank); brother Charles; dogs Oso, Abby, Red; cats Bella, Max, Cisco, Emma. Proceeded in death by his father Theodore, brother Trino. Many thanks to the staff of Huntsman cancer Institute and Rocky Mtn. Hospice for all your tireless efforts. Per Teddy's wishes, no services will be held. A celebration of his life will be planned for later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Huntsmancancerfoundation.org restricted to prostate research.
