Thomas J. "Jim" Folker, age 71, of Centerville UT, left this world on March 20, 2012 after a brave battle with cancer and surrounded by loved ones. He was born February 11, 1941 in Salt Lake City, UT to Juanita and John A. Folker and was raised by his Grandparents Alfred and Gladys Folker. Jim married "Jo" Ann Gordon, his wife of over 28 years, on December 31st, 1983. He literally helped build the foundation of Salt Lake City as a journeyman iron worker, retiring after 30 years. It is no surprise that Jim could not stay grounded. He shortly got his dream job working for the LDS Church at the Church Office Building and valued his many friendships there. Jim had a contagious smile and would light up any room upon entering and his sense of humor stayed with him thru the end. He was an amazing oil painter, loved to fish and golf, not to mention hitting the dance floor with his beautiful wife. None of us could've ordered a better dad. He is the World's Greatest "Red Headed" Stepdad and an incredible Grandpa. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Samuelson (Utah Cancer Specialists) and Rocky Mountain Care for all that they've done for both Jim and our family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26th at the Centerville LDS Building 690 N. 400 W. at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit family previous to the funeral services from 10-11:30 am. Graveside services will be held at the Provo City Cemetery 610 S. State at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Rocky Mountain Care.
