THOMAS EDWIN HUGHES

Thomas Edwin Hughes passed away on July 19, 2011. Tom was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, on March 2, 1938, and he was raised in a small coal mining town nearby named Winton. He moved to California with his family in 1953, and there he met Nancy Ann Luke, who he married and remained married to for 54 years. The marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in 1972.

Tom was an avid "antiquer;" he collected everything from old games, to milk bottles, to glass insulators, to assorted other collectibles. During his long career in the aerospace industry, he worked for McDonnell Douglas, Northrop Grumman, and a host of small paint and chemical manufacturers. While he was always a hard worker and breadwinner, Tom also served faithfully in many LDS church callings and was a dedicated family man.

Tom was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Scott Hughes (married to Elizabeth Hughes), and his parents Thomas Edward Hughes and Thyrell Aceneth Hughes. Tom is survived by his wife Nancy, his sons Michael Thomas Hughes (married to Rulona) and Richard Edwin Hughes (married to Debbie); and his daughters Laurie Ann Mackay (married to Ken), and Heather Lynn Moberg (married to Andre). His grandchildren are: Rulona Marvos (married to John); Traci, Tristan, Cambri, Joshua and Tori Hughes; Brittney, Landon, Dallin and Kaylee Mackay; Ian, Janae, and Adam Golden; Amanda Moberg. His great grandchildren are Jacob and Johnny Marvos.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the West Jordan River Stake Building, 1380 West 6785 South (access driveway from 1300 West just south of Winchester Rd). Viewing will be held at 7350 South 1300 West from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, and for one hour prior to the service on July 23.
