Thomas Henry Manning

Thomas Henry Manning was born in Miami, Florida on February 7, 1971, the second of four children in the family of Larry and Ginger Manning. He was raised in Starke, Florida and Brigham City, Utah.  As a youth he excelled in athletics, particularly baseball and football. He also enjoyed skateboarding and surfing. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and participated in many church youth programs, including Boy Scouts, where he gained a love for the outdoors.

Tommy was loved dearly by his parents and siblings and enjoyed many family activities and trips while growing up. He and his brothers spent endless hours riding bikes, playing whiffle ball, and cheering each other on in sports.  Tommy and his brother John Callis played on many youth sports teams together, often with their father, Larry, as coach, and younger brother Jason as water boy. When he was 13, Tommy was blessed with a baby sister, Joanie, with whom he formed a special, protective bond. Tommy worked full-time from the age of 16, holding positions in the construction, manufacturing, service, and education industries. He held managerial posts with Autoliv, Logan River Academy, Majestic Ranch, Synergy Youth Treatment, and other organizations. He served in the Army National Guard, completing basic and advanced training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  During his career Tommy spent many years in positions that blessed young people.  He had an amazing ability to reach kids on their level unlike any other mentor. He spent many hours counselling and advising youth in need.

While working, Tommy earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Utah State University, where he did post-graduate research. He was also a talented writer and worked as a reporter and wrote for the Herald Journal and the Post Register.

Tommy was an assiduous reader and a lover of literature and music.  He enjoyed writing short stories, poetry and other prose in his free time.  He loved sharing book and music recommendations with friends and family and amassed a large personal library. He was an avid college football fan, especially of the Florida Gators and Utah State Aggies, and enjoyed watching and attending games with friends and family.

In 1990 Tommy married Andrea Mair of Paradise, Utah.  They had four amazing children, Haley, Justin, Kaitlin, and Carson.
Andrea and Tommy remained devoted and loving parents and supported their children’s endeavors together. He was extremely proud of his children, and loved spending time with them barbecuing, camping, fishing, and hiking. He was especially overjoyed by his eight grandchildren. Poppy, Lily, Jack, Brighton, Rhylan, Scarlett, Dax, and Wesley.

In 2011, Tommy met Bridgett Redfearn of Brigham City, Utah. They were married in 2018 and enjoyed many years together, relishing time with their extended family. Tommy was a loyal and loving partner and husband to Bridgett until his death on February 17, 2023.

Tommy is survived by his wife Bridgett Redfearn Manning, his four children, Haley, Justin (Kelsie), Kaitlin (Austin), Carson (Ashley). Step-children; Chaz Redfearn and Makinzie Waddoups.  His loving parents Larry and Ginger, and siblings, John (Peggy) Manning, Jason (Shane) Manning, Joanie (Matt) Dixon, and his eight beautiful grandchildren.
