Victor H. Hoopes was released from his frail body into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 3, 2007. He was born on May 7, 1918 to Charles and Luvana Hoopes, in Rupert, Idaho, the youngest of 10 children. He graduated from Rupert High school and moved to Central Valley, California were he worked on the Shasta Dam as a pipe fitter. He married Ruth Whetstone December 18, 1940. In 1944 he left his work at Geneva Steele in Provo, Utah to serve his country in WWII in the European Theatre. After the war, he and Ruth moved to Salt Lake City where they raised four children. He was a member of the Pipefitters & Plumbers, UA Local 19 for 65 years. He was also a Utah Pipe Trades Instructor at Utah Technical College for 20 years. He retired from the pipe trades in 1981 to enjoy more time as an avid sportsman and gunsmith. As a board member of the Magna Gun Club and a member of the Eagles, he won many trapshooting trophies. He also enjoyed serving as a range officer at the Lee Kay Gun Club until his health would not allow him to volunteer his services any longer. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and belonged to Southeast Christian Church.
Survived by his devoted wife, Ruth, of 66 years; 4 children: Linda (Steve) Packer, Lance (Diana), Stephen (Bonnie), and Gary (Keiko); 9 grandchildren and 5 (plus 1 on the way) great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, and 1 son, Royal Hoopes.

Funeral services will be held Friday, at 11:00 a.m., September 7, 2007 at Southeast Christian Church, 1881 Vine Street, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers donations are encouraged to the Southeast Christian Church scholarship fund or your favorite charity.
