Walter Otto Ralph Erasmus
Our beloved father and grandfather, Walter Otto Ralph Erasmus, 87, died peacefully at home in Midvale, Utah on June 29, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 23, 1919 in East London, Cape South Africa to Jacobus Lodewicus and Agnes Minna Marie Osner Erasmus. He married Jean May Cragg on August 31, 1946 in Durban, South Africa. After attending trade school to become a sheet metallist and plumber, Walter served in the South African Defence Force during World War II, where he was the receipient of many outstanding service medals including the War Medal 1935/1945, African Star and the African Service Medal. He registered as a Sanitary Plumber in 1946 by the Durban Corporation, which became his lifelong career. He had many hobbies and interests including bowling, reading, watching TV, playing computer games and scrabble. He loved going to the Midvale Senior Center. Walter joined the LDS Church in 1954 - always grateful for his blessings.
Walters greatest wish was to see and hold his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren - which he accomplished. He was a stalwart and faithful member and priesthood holder of the LDS Church. He took every opportunity he could to share his testimony of God and Jesus Christ.
