Walter Paul Sirstins, 76, of Salt Lake City, died October 6, 2008 in Holladay, Utah. He was born July 23, 1932 in Salt Lake City to Walter Heinrich August and Greta Margaret Arndt Sirstins.
He married Raeline Higham Hilton on May 8, 1953 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served in the Army for 2 years. He graduated from the University of Utah. He worked as an Efficiency Engineer for several corporations in California and Utah and retired from AT&T. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin. He loved going on cruises.
He is survived by his wife: Raeline Sirstins of Salt Lake City; children: daughter: Michelle (Rich) Hunt of Salt Lake City, daughter: Danine (Bruce) Wagner of West Jordan, son: Bryan (Janet) Sirstins of Salt Lake City, son: Brad (Laura) Sirstins of Manassas, Virginia, son: Brent (Debbi) Sirstins of Salt Lake City, daughter-in-law: Trena (Mike) Andolsek of Riverton, daughter: Lynnette Sirstins of Salt Lake City, son: Eric (Sharolyn) Sirstins of Cottonwood Heights, daughter: Nicolette Welch of Salt Lake City; 30 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marlene, Elaine and Shirley and a Lifetime Friend Lawrence Mills.
He was preceded in death by a son Andrew and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt Olympus 1st Ward, 4625 S. Lanark Rd. (3315 E.). Friends may visit with the family Friday evening at the church from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the services. Entombment will be in the Salt Lake Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donation be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
