William Brenchley Terry

William Brenchley Terry, 78, passed away July 3, 2008 of natural causes. Born Sept. 18, 1929 Ogden, Utah to William W. and Mary Edna Terry. He graduated Ogden HS and U of U, and enlisted in U.S. Army. Stationed in New York City, he was assigned to the Special Services, where he worked on Milton Berle Show. He met Bishop Fulton J. Sheen who converted him to Catholicism. His next assignment was Washington D.C., where he was assigned to the Pentagon.
His was next stationed in Puerto Rico, where he met and married his first wife Carmen (now, Bigelow), Tucson, AZ. Bill loved music and radio. He worked as a Disc Jockey at KLIX in Twin Falls, ID, KING in Seattle WA, and KLUB and KCPX in Salt Lake City. He promoted top bands like the Stan Kenton Orchestra, Kingston Trio, Beach Boys, Loving Spoonful, and Herb Albert and TJ Brass. He loved entertaining and will be missed by many who knew him for his contrary, quick, and sarcastic humor. He was passionate about politics and made known his thought provoking views on diversity, against prejudice, and for fairness in all things at KSXX a Talk Radio format ahead of its time.
He proudly considered himself an "Iconoclastic, Sardonic, and Curmudgeon." Bill is survived by his children, Debi (Dave) Sells of Vacaville, CA, Bill (Tere) Terry of Wenatchee, WA, Sean (Mona) Terry, Pacific Palisades, CA, Carmen (Jimmy) Beaton, Wakefield, MA, Shannon (Jeff) Wenaas, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Joseph Terry, Ogden, and sister Elayne Woodin, Santa Maria, CA. Preceded by his parents and sons Schuyler and Patrick of SLC.
The family wishes to thank the medical staff and caregivers at Avalon Rehab Center for their loving care and support, and a special thanks to Bruce Whitehead and "the gang" at W.S. Adamson and Associates, Inc.
Friends may pay respects on Wednesday, July 9 at the Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, Holladay, from 6 to 8 p.m.
