Our wife, mother and grandmother, Willie Mae "Red" Shafer, 68 of Greer died peacefully on January 6, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Red was born in Anderson, SC to Clayton Sammy Garrett and Sara "Sally" Walls. Mrs. Shafer was a member of Victor United Methodist Church, and also a choir member. She retired from Ben Arnold Sunbelt in 2009. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Raymond Shafer, her son Donnie (Shannon) Shafer and grandchildren Elizabeth, Rita, Lacey & Zack. Also surviving are 3 sisters Jean Wolfe, Sara Keller, and Nell Roberts, one brother Lamar Garrett, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the friends and family for their thoughts and prayers. A special thank you goes to long-time friend Brenda McDowell for her continued love and support. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Victor United Methodist Church, 1 Wilson Avenue, Greer, SC. A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to services, where friends and family may call. Interment will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC. Memorials may be made to Victor United Methodist Church 1 Wilson Avenue Greer, SC 29651.
