Willis James Marchbanks of South Jordan, Utah passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the University of Colorado Hospital, Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver, Colorado as a result of complications from a lung transplant surgery he had received 17 days earlier. Will had just turned 21 at the time of his death.
Willis grew up and attended schools in Manti, Utah and later moved to South Jordan, Utah. While attending Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah, Willis developed pulmonary venal occlusive disease along with pulmonary hypertension half way through his senior year at Bingham High School. He later moved to Denver, Colorado where he lived with his sister, Abby while waiting for his lung transplant.
While attending Manti High School, Will was a member of the Chess Club and at Bingham High School he supported the Photography and Pottery Clubs. He worked in West Jordan at Reams as the Floor Manager in the Produce Department. While at Reams he earned his money to buy his first car. He researched on the internet and decided to buy a Subaru.
Willis loved the outdoors, especially swimming and camping. Willis loved reading a variety of books and recommended his favorite books to family and friends. He paid his way to Atlanta, Georgia to attend a business workshop while he was enrolled at Bingham High School. Willis was very giving and deeply loved his brothers and sisters. Willis was a strong and courageous young man who was deeply loved by everyone he met. We will miss him tremendously.
Willis is survived by his father, David (Tana) Marchbanks, his mother, Laura Washenko. His siblings: Heather (Kim) Swank, Aaron (Megan) Marchbanks, Matthew (Tabitha) Marchbanks, Dorothy (Jeremy) Thomas, Abigail Marchbanks, George Marchbanks and Elizabeth Washenko.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 in the South Jordan LDS 4th Ward Chapel at 9800 S. 2650 W. South Jordan. Utah. The family will meet with friends prior to services on Thursday, at the church from 9 to 10:45 am. The interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery following the services. (1600 North 800 East Orem, Utah)
