Zelda Mae Martinez

Our beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011, 6 days before her 90th birthday, surrounded by her family.
Zelda Mae Martinez was born November 19, 1921 in Orem, Utah to Burt and Jenny Richins. At a young age she married Glen Johnston then later divorced. Mae then met and married the love of her life John T. Martinez on July 5, 1951. They lived, worked and raised their children in Orem, Utah.
Mae worked all her life. Some say she was a natural caretaker. After raising her 8 children, she worked many jobs including motel work and caring for the elderly at nursing homes. She loved to crochet and loved teaching it to her grandchildren. But above all, Mae loved being a Grandma and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children Rod (Margene) Johnston, Glenda Evans, Johnny Johnston, Tamara Lott, Judy Jensen, Dave (Becky) Martinez and Kim Martinez. Her sisters Faye Carter, Dixie Paice and Janice Isaacson. Brother Mike Richins and many grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband John and daughter Linda.
Mae was loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed. She is leaving behind memories and love in all of our hearts. Her family would like to thank Trinity Mission for taking such wonderful care of Mae and showing her so much love.
A Rememberance and Mass for Mae will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, located at 65 East 500 North in Orem, Utah on November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
