This weekend is my nephew Hayden’s wedding.
His mom, (my sister) passed away 7 years ago along with my dad. My mom went to heaven 9 years ago. It’s easy to approach events like this wedding wishing my sister and my parents could be there and feeling sad that they aren’t. But then I decided to believe they are with us.
I don’t need anyone’s permission to believe this and there is no downside. When I think about my sister and my parents being with us, I feel connected. It’s a little bittersweet but far more sweet than bitter. And when we go to our Bear Lake reunion in August, they come with us. Of course they do. If this feels good to you, I hope you’ll borrow my way of thinking.
Even death can’t take away our ability to choose the way we think about our loved ones.
Our relationships can continue to grow stronger. It’s a choice.
Take care,
Melinda
